1700s - Before There Was Us

Oakville was founded on the land of an unknown native tribe. making our town a major historical site and an assimilated nature preserve. Not much is known about these people. From historical accounts, what the city historians could find they were said to be a peaceful tribe. They traded with passerby's and other tribes, they hunted and gathered, and had little to no recorded conflicts. The tribe mysteriously vanished one day, and all proof of their existence is what they left behind, such as the hills that once were mounds, dug-up artifacts, and occasional arrowheads that wash up on the shores of lakes and rivers. Many buildings around Oakville stand over what was once land settled on by a very noble tribe.

1800s - Our Founding

In 1843, the town of Oakville, North Carolina, was founded between what is now Charlotte and Hickory. The police department was one of the first to be established, alongside the town hall, Toddy's General, and the OakPine Hotel. It was, and has always been referred to by most American citizens as a welcoming and warm community that prioritizes safety and comfort as a priority. Oakville Police Department, in the beginning, only had eight sworn-in officers. As time went on, we had a strong team of over twenty. Even back then, we have since stood by our oath to serve and protect.

1900s - Our Reform

In 1962, Oakville Police Department had a complete department reformation due to regular incompetence, failure to act on serious matters, and to insulate the department from political agenda. The department acted quickly with the help of police chief Winston McCroth and thanks to his fast response and approach to the growing issues, the department is now of what you see today.
